In 1897, four young women at State Female Normal School of Virginia (now Longwood University) joined together with a common vision — to create something “higher and nobler,” an organization that would empower women through friendship and high ideals. Over 125 years later, the sorority continues to live the dream of its founders by providing a lifelong experience for our members through support and sisterhood.
The Kappa Delta experience offers members the chance to leave their mark on the future and impact the lives of members and those in need around the world. Contributions to the Kappa Delta Foundation from alumnae, collegians and friends enable the sorority to further its philanthropic efforts, local community outreach programs, as well as scholarships and educational opportunities for members.
We have chosen to become Kappa Deltas because we believe that, in some way, all of us can be better together than each of us can be alone. That is the strength of Kappa Delta. Learn more about Kappa Delta Sorority and the Kappa Delta Foundation by visiting our national organization’s website.
Kappa Delta Sorority provides experiences that build confidence in women and inspire them to action through the power of lifelong friendship.
Kappa Delta Sorority is a national organization for women committed to: encouraging members to live with integrity and honor in the bonds of lifelong friendship; building confidence in members to excel in college and throughout their lives; inspiring members to be active leaders, responsible citizens and engaged members of the community; and providing opportunities and experiences that foster personal and professional growth for a lifetime
Our four values – friendship & loyalty, personal integrity, lifelong learning, and selfless service – were created by our founders to help each Kappa Delta woman become the best version of herself.
Kappa Delta's colors are olive green and pearl white; our jewels are the diamond, emerald and pearl; our symbols include the white rose, nautilus shell and dagger; and our mascot is the teddy bear.
